Right-wing politicians and pundits have begun to parrot a racist trope in the wake of the mass shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas after Texas Governor Greg Abbott falsely claimed gun control laws didn't prevent violence in Chicago. The statement prompted heavy pushback online.
Gov. Greg Abbott said during an appearance on the Joe Pags show that Texas might consider challenging a 1982 U.S. Supreme Court decision requiring states to offer free public education to all children. Apparently, he's against the law because "all children" includes illegal immigrant children.
