“I dealt with sexual abuse from both men and women from the time I was 9,” Majors said. “From people who are supposed to look after you, in the absence of a father. I was f***ed up.” He explained that addressing these experiences has been a crucial part of his personal growth, adding, “There are no excuses, but by getting help, you begin to understand things about yourself.”

Majors’ revelation comes amid a tumultuous period in his life. In December 2023, he was convicted of assaulting and harassing his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. The fallout from the case led to significant professional setbacks, including the cancellation of several major projects. Marvel Studios, for instance, distanced itself from his character Kang, renaming Avengers: The Kang Dynasty to Avengers: Doomsday. In April 2024, Majors was sentenced to a year-long batterer intervention program in Los Angeles, California.

Despite these challenges, Majors is now focusing on healing and moving forward. He spoke openly about sharing his past with his family, telling his mother, “It’s not even an issue, mom. I just want you to know. And now we can all get busy and continue to connect and grow and learn from it, because it’s something that was in our family.”

Professionally, Majors is promoting Magazine Dreams, a sports drama that was shelved for two years following his legal troubles. Directed by Elijah Bynum, the film stars Majors as Killian Maddox, an aspiring bodybuilder who turns to steroids in his relentless pursuit of recognition. The movie’s teaser showcases Killian’s extreme dedication to achieving his dream of becoming Mr. Olympia, the international bodybuilding champion.

Majors’ resilience has also garnered support from peers in the industry. Creed star Michael B. Jordan recently expressed his admiration for Majors, telling GQ, “He’s doing great, just got engaged. I’m proud of his resilience and his strength through it all, and his handling of it. I’m glad he’s good. That’s my boy…” When asked if he would work with Majors again, Jordan responded without hesitation: “Yes. Yes.”

As Majors continues to navigate his personal and professional journey, his openness about his past serves as a reminder of the complexities of healing and the importance of seeking help. “By getting help,” he said, “you begin to understand things about yourself.”
