Wendy Williams may have taken a significant step toward ending her court-ordered guardianship after reportedly scoring a perfect 10/10 on a psychological evaluation. The test, administered during her stay at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, was designed to assess her cognitive awareness and decision-making abilities. While the evaluation does not dispute her frontotemporal dementia and aphasia diagnoses, its results could be reviewed by the judge overseeing her guardianship case.

Williams’ hospitalization followed a wellness check by NYPD officers at her assisted-living facility, where she has repeatedly expressed feeling trapped. The trip to the hospital and subsequent evaluation were allegedly arranged by Gina Monterroso, an independent caretaker unaffiliated with her guardianship. While Monterroso’s connection to Williams remains unclear, the test results have sparked further scrutiny over Wendy’s restricted living conditions. Reports indicate that she is confined to a memory care unit with limited privileges, prompting New York’s Adult Protective Services (APS) to investigate her guardianship arrangement.

In recent weeks, Williams has actively sought to make her case publicly, asserting that she is capable of managing her own affairs. She has described her living situation as overly restrictive, claiming she is rarely allowed to leave and must seek approval from an attendant for any outings. Although her guardian previously told Vanity Fair that Wendy had traveled to Florida twice for family events, Williams countered that she had only been permitted to leave twice in a month.
Amid ongoing legal battles, Wendy is preparing for a high-profile return to television. ABC announced that she will appear on The View on March 14, marking her first national TV interview since her dementia diagnosis. However, rather than appearing in person, she will join via phone. The segment will also feature Gina Monterroso, who is the founder of Connect Care Advisory Group.

Williams’ fight for autonomy has gained increasing attention, with APS reportedly interviewing her niece, Alex Finnie, and others close to her. The NYPD is also investigating her guardianship and living conditions. Despite these challenges, Wendy continues to push for control over her life and finances, using her platform to challenge the narrative surrounding her condition.
