“I just feel very full and very honored,” she said while accepting the award alongside her daughter, Blue Ivy. “It’s been many, many years.”
Despite being the most decorated artist in Grammys history, Beyoncé had previously lost in this category four times. Her win comes on the same day she announced the Cowboy Carter tour, which sent fans into a frenzy on social media.

The country-inspired album, released in March 2024, received praise but also faced resistance from the traditional country music scene. Notably, it was shut out of the Country Music Association Awards last year. Still, Cowboy Carter made a significant impact, featuring artists like Post Malone, Miley Cyrus, Dolly Parton, and Shaboozey.

During her speech, Beyoncé dedicated the win to Linda Martell, a trailblazer for Black women in country music, who also appears on the album.
“I want to dedicate this to Miss Martell, and I hope we just keep pushing forward, opening doors,” she said.
Beyoncé has previously shared that Cowboy Carter was inspired by her experiences of not feeling welcomed in the country genre. She revealed in March that she had been working on the project for five years following backlash she faced while entering the space.

“Years ago, I had an experience where I did not feel welcomed,” she wrote on Instagram.
Sunday’s award was her third win of the night. She also won Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for II Most Wanted with Miley Cyrus and Best Country Album during the main broadcast.
Beyoncé faced strong competition in the Album of the Year category, going up against André 3000, Sabrina Carpenter, Charli XCX, Jacob Collier, Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, and Taylor Swift, who was aiming for her second consecutive win.
With Cowboy Carter, Beyoncé not only made history but also reinforced her place as one of the most influential artists across multiple genres.
