The film follows Killian Maddox, a determined yet isolated bodybuilder whose obsession with achieving fitness fame pushes him toward self-destruction. “He lives a lonely, regimented life, and his relentless drive for perfection only pushes him deeper towards self-destruction,” reads the official synopsis. “As he battles both the limits of his physical body and his own inner demons, Magazine Dreams explores the lengths one man will go in his haunting quest for recognition in a world that often overlooks him.”

The movie originally premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival but faced an uncertain release after Majors’ legal battle with ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari. In December 2023, he was convicted on misdemeanor assault and harassment charges, resulting in a court-ordered domestic violence treatment program. The fallout also led to his firing from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where he played Kang the Conqueror.

Directed by Elijah Bynum (Hot Summer Nights), the film stars Majors alongside Haley Bennett, Taylour Paige, Mike O’Hearn, Harrison Page, and Harriet Sansom Harris. Magazine Dreams marks Majors’ first on-screen appearance since Creed III, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and Loki Season 2 in 2023.

Despite his conviction, Majors has continued to book roles. Reports in June revealed he will lead Merciless, a revenge thriller directed by Martin Villeneuve, the brother of Dune filmmaker Denis Villeneuve.
