“Guess what? I don’t follow politics anymore,” Wonder said when asked about Donald Trump’s second inauguration, which coincided with Martin Luther King Jr. Day. When pressed about the timing of the ceremony, he didn’t hold back, adding, “It’s too much bullsh*t. I follow the truth.”
Wonder went on to address the current state of politics, emphasizing that he’s over all the hate and division. He made it clear that his guiding principles come from a different place, declaring, “I’ve got a different North Star in my life—and it ain’t about Democrats or Republicans.”

This perspective marks a significant departure from Wonder’s passionate speech at the 2024 Democratic National Convention. At the time, he urged Americans to unite during the divisive election season. “Now is the time to understand where we are and what it will take to win: win the broken hearts, win the disenchanted, win the angry spirits—now is the time,” he told the DNC crowd in Chicago.

“As we stand between history’s pain and tomorrow’s promises, we must choose courage over complacency,” he added. “It is time to get UP and go vote!”
However, with Trump back in office and political tensions running high, Wonder appears disillusioned by the current climate. His recent remarks suggest he’s chosen to prioritize truth and peace over partisan conflicts.
