Khloé Kardashian is under fire for her recent comments labeling Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass “a joke” over alleged budget cuts to the city’s fire department ahead of devastating wildfires. However, the backlash didn’t stop there, as actress Yvette Nicole Brown reignited conversations about the Kardashian family’s history of excessive water use during a severe drought.

Brown took to social media to share a 2022 Rolling Stone article highlighting that the Kardashians were among LA’s “worst water wasters,” reportedly exceeding the county limit by 333,000 gallons that summer. Brown captioned her post with a pointed message to Khloé, writing, “This is from 2022 when Los Angeles was in the midst of a drought. Every citizen was asked to conserve for the good of everyone else. Y’know because of fires? Is THIS a joke @khloekardashian?”

Many joined Brown in criticizing Khloé. One commenter remarked, “See what happens when you’re loud and wrong, @khloekardashian?? Smh.” Another wrote, “Now keep Ms. Bass’ name out your mouth, Khloé.”

Khloé’s controversy began when she reposted an interview with LA Fire Chief Kristin Crowley, who claimed the mayor’s budget cuts hindered the fire department’s ability to respond effectively to the wildfires. Khloé expressed her support for Chief Crowley, writing, “I stand by YOU Chief Crowley!!!” before slamming Bass with, “Mayor Bass, you are a joke!!!!”
This public criticism led to a flurry of online backlash. Critics pointed out Khloé’s quickness to denounce Bass, a liberal politician, while remaining silent on issues tied to right-wing figures. One user on X (formerly Twitter) stated, “It’s interesting how Khloé Elon Musk Kardashian has been very quick to call Mayor Karen Bass ‘A JOKE’ but had no smoke for Trump, JD Vance, or Elon during this past election.”
Meanwhile, Khloé’s sister, Kim Kardashian, faced her own wave of criticism for promoting a SKIMS sale amid the wildfires. Los Angeles writer Meredith Lynch accused Kim of prioritizing profits over public welfare, saying, “It is wild to me that they’re not like, ‘Hey, let me use my platform to put out as much resource information as possible.’ No, instead, she’s like, ‘Buy SKIMS.’”
