This achievement comes during an award season where country rocker Zach Bryan and pop icon Taylor Swift dominated with the most nominations—18 and 16, respectively. The eligibility period for the Billboard Music Awards spans from October 28, 2023, to October 19, 2024, aligning with the outlet’s year-end charts tracking period.

Beyoncé, who holds the record as the most decorated artist in Grammy history with 32 wins, has been breaking boundaries with Cowboy Carter. The genre-blending album has earned her widespread acclaim and 11 Grammy nominations, including her first-ever nods in the country and American roots categories. She’s also in the running for Album of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for her hit collaboration with Post Malone, “Levi’s Jeans.”

However, her foray into country music hasn’t been without challenges. Despite the critical and commercial success of Cowboy Carter, Beyoncé was notably snubbed at the recent Country Music Association (CMA) Awards, sparking backlash from fans and industry figures alike. The album failed to secure any CMA nods, even though tracks like “II Most Wanted” with Miley Cyrus, “Texas Hold ‘Em,” and “16 Carriages” were considered strong contenders.

Adding to her country journey, Beyoncé led the nominations at the 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards with 12 nods but didn’t take home any trophies. Despite these setbacks, her Billboard win signals growing recognition for her efforts to push genre boundaries and bridge musical worlds.

With Cowboy Carter continuing to gain traction and Beyoncé’s ability to redefine what’s possible in music, fans can only wonder: what’s next for Queen Bey in country music?
