The cohosts of The View, Whoopi Goldberg and Sunny Hostin, didn’t hold back after Donald Trump’s recent derogatory comments. During their show, they responded with a mix of smiles and sharp retorts to Trump’s insults, which he made at a rally in Pennsylvania while Hurricane Milton was wreaking havoc in Florida.

In his speech, Trump criticized Goldberg, stating, “I have hired Whoopi to work for me as a comedian. Her mouth was so foul, every word out of her mouth was like the F word. I was with a group of nice people. We had to leave. She was so filthy, dirty, disgusting. Oh, what a loser she is.” He also directed insults at Hostin, saying, “I think the other one asking the question is dumber than Kamala. She’s a dummy. I’ve watched her over the years. That is one dumb…that is one dumb woman.”

Goldberg was quick to respond. “As it turns out I was filthy,” she said with her signature bluntness. “I was filthy, and I stand on that fact. And you knew that when you hired me. I headlined, babe, at your casino, which I might have continued to play had you not run it into the ground. How dumb are you that you hired me four times and didn’t know what you were getting? How dumb are you?” She further noted, “There’s a difference between people who assault other people and people who say words you don’t want little kids saying in church.”

Hostin also chimed in, saying, “Donald Trump, I want to thank you for personally telling so many lies and committing so many crimes and providing us with material on a daily basis. You help us do our jobs and I’m so appreciative. Because of people like you, a former prosecutor and legal expert can become a fixture on a show like this, and again, I’m so grateful.” She added, “I admit, I may not have spent as much time in a courtroom as you have. I was also recognized with a special achievement award by the Department of Justice. You remember the Department of Justice, right? It’s the agency that’s been pursuing you for decades.”

Hostin continued her pointed remarks, referencing her history of prosecuting sex offenders and inviting Trump to appear on the show: “And as for dumb questions, you’re always welcome to come here and answer some if sitting so close to a prosecutor won’t make you nervous. I’ll even give you a free View mug, not to be confused though with a mug shot.”

Joy Behar also got in on the action, jokingly responding to Trump’s assertion on a podcast that he’s “basically a truthful person” by saying, “And basically I am a natural redhead who’s 29 years old.”

As the segment concluded, Goldberg pointed out, “Here’s the real thing that everybody has to be aware of. This is what irritated him—not what’s going on, hurricanes and all kinds of stuff in our country. But we irritated him to the point that he has to admit he does watch The View, something we all knew. So when you hear people saying, ‘I don’t watch that show,’ they are lying.”

She wrapped up by urging viewers affected by Hurricane Milton to “not listen to anything [Trump] says because he is giving you bad information” and directed them to The View website for reliable updates on FEMA and hurricane relief services.
