Janice Smalls Combs, the mother of music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, recently broke her silence regarding the mounting allegations of sexual misconduct and violence against her son. In a heartfelt and emotional statement, Janice expressed her devastation over what she perceives as a gross miscarriage of justice. She described the current situation as a “public lynching” of her son, urging the public to wait before passing judgment.

Acknowledging that Diddy may not have been fully truthful in the past, particularly regarding a domestic violence incident with his former girlfriend Cassie, Janice explained that his mistakes do not equate to guilt in the sexual assault charges currently being levied against him. She admitted that Diddy “may not have been entirely truthful about certain things” but insisted this should not lead to the assumption that he is guilty of far more serious allegations. “My son is not the monster they have painted him to be,” Janice said, defending his character despite acknowledging his flaws.

Janice’s statement also highlighted the painful experience of watching the media and the public judge her son without hearing his side of the story. She condemned what she perceives as a rush to judgment driven by financial motives, saying, “These lies thrown at him are motivated by those seeking financial gain, and not justice.” She argued that these false accusations do a disservice to true victims of sexual violence, muddying the waters for those who are genuinely seeking justice.

She also addressed the 2016 incident involving a video that shows Diddy assaulting Cassie at a hotel in Los Angeles, admitting that her son made mistakes in that situation. Diddy later apologized for his actions, though he did not specifically mention Cassie in his public apology. While Janice acknowledged the incident, she stressed that the subsequent sexual misconduct allegations have not been proven, and Diddy deserves a chance to defend himself.

Janice closed her statement by calling on Diddy’s supporters and the general public to reserve judgment. She emphasized that everyone deserves their day in court, and Diddy should be given the opportunity to “share his side and prove his innocence.” She remains hopeful that the truth will come out and that her son will be vindicated: “I can only pray that I am alive to see him speak his truth and be vindicated.”
