Beyoncé, known for keeping her personal life under wraps, surprised fans with a rare interview in GQ where she shared a candid glimpse into her family life with Jay-Z and their three children: Blue Ivy, and twins Rumi and Sir. While promoting her new whiskey line, Beyoncé also opened up about the balance she strikes between her demanding career and her role as a mother.

She shared her daily routine, revealing that she starts her day around 6 a.m., fitting in work before her kids wake up. “Parenting while working, I embrace the beauty and chaos of it all,” she said. When asked about balancing home life with the pressures of her career, Beyoncé reflected on how technology has changed relationships. She mentioned how, back when she and Jay-Z were falling in love, they had to rely on calling cards and Skype. “I literally would get international calling cards to call him,” she recalled, highlighting how different the world is for their kids, who now have instant access to their friends via FaceTime.

Beyoncé emphasized her commitment to keeping her children’s lives as normal and private as possible. “It’s very easy for celebrities to turn our lives into performance art. I’ve made an extreme effort to stay true to my boundaries and protect my family,” she shared, adding, “No amount of money is worth my peace.”

Fame, however, comes with challenges. Beyoncé admitted that fame “can at times feel like a prison,” which is why she tends to disappear from the spotlight between projects. “When you don’t see me on red carpets, and I disappear until I have art to share, that’s why,” she explained.
Beyoncé plans her work around her family, ensuring her children can accompany her on tour and experience new cultures. Reflecting on her daughter Blue Ivy’s blossoming talent, she praised her as a “fantastic editor, painter, and actress,” but noted that Blue’s desire to perform on stage during the Renaissance tour was entirely her own decision. “She took it seriously and earned it,” Beyoncé proudly stated.

On her choice not to release music videos for Renaissance, Beyoncé said, “The music needed space to breathe. The years of hard work and detail… the music is enough.” She emphasized that fans themselves became the visual during her tour.
