As human beings, none of us know the exact date and time that we will leave this earth. Even if doctors diagnose us with a deadly disease or give us an estimated time limit to live, we never actually know when that moment will happen. For celebrities, whose private lives are already exposed for the world to judge, death garners massive amounts of media attention; especially when the death is very suspicious.

Famous death’s like the late, great Notorious BIG have yet to be solved after over 25 years later. On this day in 1997, Biggie’s second and final studio album Life After Death was released just sixteen days after the rappers death.

Celeb: Marilyn Monroe

Cause Of Death: Possible Suicide

The 36-year-old icon was found dead in her apartment in 1962. Though the autopsy report found a large amount of sleeping pills in her system, it’s been suspected that the Kennedy brothers may be the cause of her untimely death. Allegedly, Monroe had an affair with President John F. Kennedy and his brother Robert Kennedy, both of who were married and didn’t need a celebrity sex symbol tarnishing their image. Some suspect that they paid a hitman to end their relations with Monroe, permanently.

Celeb: Heath Ledger

Cause Of Death: Overdose On Pain Medicine

In 2008, The Dark Knight star was found dead in his Manhattan apartment. The autopsy reported that his death was caused by a deadly combination of Oxycodone, Hydrocodone, and several other anti-anxiety and sedative combination pills. But many people questioned the report, which was ruled as an accidental overdose, since there was no evidence of doctor-written prescriptions or bottles of the pain pills on the scene.

Celeb: Tupac Shakur

Cause Of Death: Several Gunshot Wounds

Seventeen years after his death, Tupac Shakur is still one of the most popular and highest selling artists of all time. In 1996, he was gunned down riding around in Las Vegas. He died just a few days later at the age of 25. To this day, the killer of the slain rapper has yet to be found and many sightings of Pac have been reported throughout the years. LAPD closed the investigation, leading many people to believe that there was some malicious, unknown behavior involved.

Celeb: Brittany Murphy

Cause Of Death: Pneumonia and Anemia

When the 32-year-old actress was found dead in her home in December 2009, the cause of death was ruled ‘natural causes,’ including pneumonia and anemia. But the family of the starlet, who claimed that Brittany seemed to be perfectly healthy when they last saw her, suspect some sort of foul play. Murphy’s dad, Angelo Bertolotti, decided to go further with the investigation of his late daughter’s death. Bertolotti claims that after Brittany openly supported a Homeland Security whistle-blower, the government had her under surveillance and poisoned her months before her death. To add more suspicion to the story, Murphy’s husband, Simon Monjack, died a few months later of the same causes. New evidence suggests that the case will be reopened.

Celeb: Elvis Presley

Cause Of Death: Heart Attack

In 1971, music icon Elvis Presley was pronounced dead after suffering an apparent heart attack while sitting on the toilet. Later, coroners ruled that the cause of death was a lethal combination of alcohol and prescription medicine. But since his death, many sightings of Presley have been reported. Friend of Elvis and country music star Merle Haggard was even quoted telling People Magazine what he felt about Presley faking his own death, “It would be the first chance for freedom in his entire life, and it could have been a scheme Colonel Parker dreamed up.”

Celeb: Notorious BIG

Cause Of Death: Several Gunshot Wounds

Just like fellow rapper Tupac, whose mysterious death also made our list, the late, great BIG was shot several times while riding in his car after leaving a party. But unlike Pac, Biggie was in Los Angeles to promote his second album Life After Death when he was killed in a drive-by shooting. Though the case was reopened in 2005, the killer has yet to be identified.

Celeb: Kurt Cobain

Cause Of Death: Suicide

In 1994, rock superstar Kurt Cobain was found dead at his Lake Washington home. After years of battling depression and drug abuse, fans were not necessary shocked by the passing of their icon. His dead body was found lying lifelessly next to a suicide note addressed to his imaginary friend ‘Boddah.’ A few years after the untimely death, family and friends of Cobain began to speculate that things just weren’t adding up; specifically Kurt’s suicide note, which referenced his suicide attempt in the last few lines, but didn’t resemble the handwriting in the rest of the letter. Many suspect the rocker’s ex-wife Courtney Love of staging her husband’s suicide, which was the basis of the documentary Kurt and Courtney.

Cause Of Death: Gunshot Wound

In November 1963, the world watched as their beloved President was shot and killed while attending a Presidential motorcade in Dallas, Texas. Almost 50 years later, the gunman has yet to be identified, but many suspect that this was indeed an organized crime by the CIA. Some suggest that the Federal Reserve may be the culprit, others believe that former President Lyndon B. Johnson may be to blame. No one knows for sure who pulled the trigger on that historic day.

Celeb: Nicole Simpson (ex-wife of OJ Simpson)

Cause Of Death: Murder

The 1994 murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and friend Ronald Goldman are still known as one of the most suspicious acts of murder in the history of Hollywood. Nicole was found brutally murdered in her Los Angeles home along with Goldman. The LAPD later attempted to arrest Nicole’s husband OJ Simpson, who then led them on a high speed chase down LA’s interstate 405. Police finally caught up with OJ and arrested the former NFL star, but during trial, he was acquitted of all charges to the dismay of those who loved Nicole. Adding salt to the wound, OJ Simpson published a book entitled If I Did It in 2007. However, in 2012, a documentary titled My Brother The Serial Killer included allegations that serial killer Glen Edward Rogers murdered Nicole and Goldman. Yet, no one knows who exactly committed the gruesome crimes.

Cause Of Death: Swelling Of The Brain

People all over remember Bruce Lee as a superb martial artist who appeared in many films. The 1973 death of the 33-year-old star caused a lot of suspicion and speculation. The day of his death, Lee complained of a severe headache while reading over the script for his latest film. The film’s co-star Betty Tingpei gave Lee a painkiller only prescribed for her. She told officials that she tried to wake Lee after his nap, but he never woke up. Many concluded that there was definitely foul play involved, seeing as though Tingpei didn’t notify the police after she couldn’t wake Lee. Some even suggested that the Chinese government killed Lee for revealing martial arts secrets. Despite allegations, no one knows for sure what caused the young action star to perish.

Celeb: Brandon Lee

Cause Of Death: Gunshot Wound

The death of Brandon Lee strikes an uncanny resemblance to that of his father. Just like Bruce, Brandon was in the process of shooting a film at the time of his death. Brandon was on set shooting a scene for his debut movie The Crow, when another actor fired a shot from what he believed was a prop gun, except it contained actual bullets. The bullet struck Lee in the abdomen and he was rushed to the hospital, only to die the next day. People were concerned about the death of the star and how the details were as sketchy as those of his late father’s death. Police declined to identify the actor who shot the gun, or any eyewitnesses on set, leading people to believe that this was no accident.
