The sisters of the Braxton Family have returned for season six of their reality show and boy has reality really taken its toll on everyone. Toni, Tamar, Traci, Towanda and Trina are all dealing with their own individual life battles, but because of this show, we –the public, have an inside glimpse of what’s been going on since we last saw them in season 5.
One question on the hearts and minds of everyone for Ms. Toni Braxton and her friend/beau Bryan “Birdman” Williams – are y’all finished or are y’all done pretending like there’s nothing more to this “platonic” relationship then what you claimed during season 5? Thanks to Towanda, who boldly confronts the elephant in the room surrounding the rumors about Toni and Birdman’s alleged marriage, we find out that NOPE, they’re not married – yet.
Toni admits that although the two are not husband and wife, they have been successfully dating for over a year and he has grown from being just a “friend”, to now being her heart (Awwww.) But, for these two that’s not where the buck stops.
After returning from a performance in Dubai, Toni brings back a couple of gifts and things for her sisters. A couple of hijabs and a special appointment with the Henna Princess to decorate the ladies’ hands causes speculation among the family. According to Towanda, henna is used in Dubai for wedding celebrations.
So, we ask you, Toni – what in the henna princess are you trying to tell people? And, adding more side eye to the equation, later in the episode Toni shows up with a very bright and chunky ring on her finger that claims is only a gift she received for her birthday.
Meanwhile, over in the world of baby sister Braxton – Tamar, life is seemingly starting over for her as well, after the news broke of her filing for divorce from hubby Vincent Herbert. The sisters are shocked by the news because they had to find out the same way the rest of the world did – through the streets that are always talking.

Tamar initially chooses to shield the news from her family but ultimately spills the tea, confirming the divorce filing during a family dinner at Mr. Chow’s. While there, Tamar reaches into her handbag and randomly takes out a microphone to mock interview her sisters on what’s been going on in their lives but, when Traci quickly points the mic back in her direction to ask about her “divorce tea,” the conversation grows a little more intense.
When asked whether she actually filed and if she’s sad about it, Tamar responds “Yes. 1,000%” she’s filed, and she’s not at all sad about it because it was “something that had to happen.”
Tamar also takes the opportunity to apologize to her sisters Traci, Toni and Trina; for her past snide remarks about their marital woes and divorce issues.
In the past, Tamar said Traci’s husband and Trina’s ex-husband were cheaters; that Towanda’s ex couldn’t hold down a job and that Toni’s ex-husband only wanted to live off of her – all while proclaiming that her husband, Vincent, was totally different.
Although she attempts to clear up what she said she ultimately places the blame for her hurtful words on being the baby of the family and just simply not knowing what a marriage could be like. But when the sisters press the matter Tamar feels attack and she calls an Uber to remove herself from the situation.
The thirty-minute season premiere includes the revelation that Traci is going to be a grandmother. That’s right! Traci’s 22-year-old son Kevin and his 21-year-old girlfriend Olivia are expecting. The thought of her son becoming a parent at such a young age upsets Traci when she thinks about her struggles as a young parent. She married and started having babies at 25 and she wants different for her son. But, what’s done is done and the baby is coming.
Traci is also reluctant to tell her mother, Ms. Evelyn, because of how she responded when Traci first became a mother. But, to her surprise, Evelyn is elated to find out she’s going to be a great-grandmother.
“Look at God,” she exclaims when Traci breaks the news to her on the phone while out shopping with Trina.
Meanwhile, Towanda “Umba” Braxton is no longer singing as a “doo wop pop pop” girl. She’s finally living out her dream to become an actress and is starting by landing a role in a stage play titled Two Can Play That Game.
One of the tour dates is scheduled in California, where all of the sisters are, and of course Towanda invites the entire crew to come out to support.

Everyone shows up except for Tamar. which rubs Towanda the wrong way. After the show Traci, Trina and Ms. Evelyn join Towanda for dinner where they catch up on what’s been going on.
She wasn’t present at the dinner at Mr. Chow’s,so Trina and Traci catch her up on their conversation with Tamar. Towanda also chimes in on how Tamar attacked her husband during her divorce and was also very insensitive to her children and how it affected them.
Towanda and Ms. Evelyn decide to go visit Tamar at her new apartment as a newly separated woman to address some of the family’s issues. Tamar explains to Towanda that the reason she missed her play was because she’s been in hiding. She wasn’t ready to go out and be around the press and she apologized. The sisters agreed to have more communication going forward so there will be no misunderstandings.
Next episode we can look forward to celebrating Toni’s birthday and also her Legend Award at the 2017 Soul Train Awards. We can’t wait!
